Terms and Conditions

To qualify for 3 months (90 days) free of management fees on $20,000 of your balance, you must fund a new stock and bond investing account (excluding crypto accounts) with at least a $20,000 balance within 45 days of signup. The offer is only valid for new accounts with Betterment LLC. The offer is valid only for new investment accounts with Betterment LLC held in traditional securities investments (e.g. ETFs, stocks, bonds) and does not apply to cryptocurrency investments, accounts held in Betterment Cash Reserve or any Betterment Checking accounts. Employer-sponsored retirement accounts provided through Betterment at Work, accounts advised through the Betterment for Advisors platform, and Health Savings Accounts via Optum Bank also are excluded from this offer.

For the avoidance of doubt, the fee waiver does not apply to Betterment's investment management fees charged on crypto accounts and does not apply to any fees charged in connection with Advice Packages offered by Betterment LLC. It also does not apply to any fees charged by other entities, such as Betterment LLC affiliates. Free time applies only to management fees charged by Betterment for investment advisory services and does not include any fees and expenses charged to shareholders by the funds held in your Betterment account.

To qualify, you must open a new Betterment LLC account using the special designated link from your invitation. If you qualify, Betterment LLC will waive its investment management fees that would otherwise apply to $20,000 of your investment account balance for 3 months, with such period of time to be determined by Betterment LLC. This fee waiver will only apply to investment accounts in the first legal account that you fund after using the special designated link. This fee waiver will run concurrently with any other fee waivers you subsequently receive from Betterment, whether through the Refer a Friend program or from any other offers.

The referring friend who sent you this invitation is a Betterment LLC client and has done so through the Refer a Friend program jointly offered by Betterment LLC and Betterment Financial LLC (collectively, for the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, "Betterment"). The referring friend is a promoter who is incentivized to recommend Betterment pursuant to the terms and conditions herein, which is a conflict of interest. If you, using the specially designated link in your invitation, open and fund within 45 days of opening a Betterment LLC account with a minimum deposit of at least $20,000, Betterment LLC will waive its investment management fees that would otherwise apply to up to $25,000 of your referring friend's investment account balance for a period of 365 days, with such period determined by Betterment LLC (a "fee waiver"). They will not receive a fee waiver if they have already referred five other friends to Betterment LLC and will not receive more than one fee waiver through this program if you open both a Checking Account and a Betterment LLC account. Even if your friend is not eligible for a fee waiver, you can still receive one.

Betterment is not responsible for incorrect entry or other failure on your part to meet the standards for qualifying for the fee waiver. This promotion is not valid with any other offers and is non-transferrable. Offer available to U.S. residents only. Betterment reserves the right to terminate this offer at any time and to refuse or recover any promotion award if Betterment LLC determines that it was obtained under wrongful or fraudulent circumstances, that inaccurate or incomplete information was provided in opening the account, that any rules or regulations would be violated, or that any terms of the Betterment Account Agreements or the Betterment Financial Terms and Conditions have been violated. After the period of time for which your Betterment LLC fees will be waived pursuant to the Refer a Friend Program, there will be no differential between the amount or level of investment advisory fees that Betterment LLC will charge for managing your account and that which it would customarily charge for managing any other new client with similar assets who did not participate in the Refer a Friend Program.
